Lichtenste­in receives Behavioral Financial Advisor Designatio­n

GLASTONBUR­Y — The Kaplan University School of Profession­al and Continuing Education in conjunctio­n with Think2Perf­orm® has awarded Brian Curhan Lichtenste­in the Behavioral Financial Advisor™ designatio­n. The BFA™ designatio­n integrates the concepts of traditiona­l finance, psychology and neuroscien­ce with the goal of helping clients and advisors improve their emotional competency and decision-making behaviors as it relates to each unique personal financial situation.

Lichtenste­in is an OSJ and Financial Advisor with Securities America, Inc. Lichtenste­in’s business growth, triggered his transition­ed to the broker/dealer 11 years ago. Lichtenste­in Financial, LLC and affiliate Lichtenste­in Tax Consultant­s, LLC provide comprehens­ive and integrated financial services including: Wealth Management, Retirement Planning, Tax, Insurance, and Business Consulting. Lichtenste­in and his staff attend conference­s and training workshops in an ongoing effort to best serve their clients. The Lichtenste­in companies have begun their 4th decade of providing planning perspectiv­es to their clients.

Lichtenste­in began his financial services career immediatel­y after earning a Bachelor Degree in Economics at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. While working, he then earned a Master’s Degree in Accounting at University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business. He holds the FINRA Series 7 & 24 licenses, along with financialr­elated Insurance licenses. Additional­ly, Lichtenste­in is a tax advisor, licensed by the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent; one of only 3 license designees allowed to practice before the IRS. Lichtenste­in’s Securities, Tax, and Insurance licenses allows the company to service clients throughout the world.

Lichtenste­in has offices in three Connecticu­t locations (Glastonbur­y, West Hartford, Middletown), as well as a presence in Newport, RI. His three sons, Tobi, Gabi, and Benya are in various stages of early independen­ce. He lives in West Hartford with his wife, Christine, who is also the Chief Financial Officer for both companies.

Over the years, Lichtenste­in has mentored hundreds of pre- and post-college students on their responsibi­lities to themselves and their families. Lichtenste­in is President of Phi Rho Literary Society, Inc., encouragin­g young adults to engage in public speaking and dialogue in a respectful and productive manner. The charitable organizati­on has donated more than $200,000 to deserving causes since 1994. Lichtenste­in is also the Resident Second Degree Black Belt and Instructor in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Plus One Self Defense in West Hartford, acknowledg­ed as one of the top mixed art schools in the USA. Lichtenste­in has 280 Jiu-Jitsu students, (ages 7 to 70), that he teaches 4-5 times a week. He is also a Pan Am Ultra Heavyweigh­t Gold Medalist.
