Lichtenstein receives Behavioral Financial Advisor Designation
GLASTONBURY — The Kaplan University School of Professional and Continuing Education in conjunction with Think2Perform® has awarded Brian Curhan Lichtenstein the Behavioral Financial Advisor™ designation. The BFA™ designation integrates the concepts of traditional finance, psychology and neuroscience with the goal of helping clients and advisors improve their emotional competency and decision-making behaviors as it relates to each unique personal financial situation.
Lichtenstein is an OSJ and Financial Advisor with Securities America, Inc. Lichtenstein’s business growth, triggered his transitioned to the broker/dealer 11 years ago. Lichtenstein Financial, LLC and affiliate Lichtenstein Tax Consultants, LLC provide comprehensive and integrated financial services including: Wealth Management, Retirement Planning, Tax, Insurance, and Business Consulting. Lichtenstein and his staff attend conferences and training workshops in an ongoing effort to best serve their clients. The Lichtenstein companies have begun their 4th decade of providing planning perspectives to their clients.
Lichtenstein began his financial services career immediately after earning a Bachelor Degree in Economics at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. While working, he then earned a Master’s Degree in Accounting at University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business. He holds the FINRA Series 7 & 24 licenses, along with financialrelated Insurance licenses. Additionally, Lichtenstein is a tax advisor, licensed by the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent; one of only 3 license designees allowed to practice before the IRS. Lichtenstein’s Securities, Tax, and Insurance licenses allows the company to service clients throughout the world.
Lichtenstein has offices in three Connecticut locations (Glastonbury, West Hartford, Middletown), as well as a presence in Newport, RI. His three sons, Tobi, Gabi, and Benya are in various stages of early independence. He lives in West Hartford with his wife, Christine, who is also the Chief Financial Officer for both companies.
Over the years, Lichtenstein has mentored hundreds of pre- and post-college students on their responsibilities to themselves and their families. Lichtenstein is President of Phi Rho Literary Society, Inc., encouraging young adults to engage in public speaking and dialogue in a respectful and productive manner. The charitable organization has donated more than $200,000 to deserving causes since 1994. Lichtenstein is also the Resident Second Degree Black Belt and Instructor in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Plus One Self Defense in West Hartford, acknowledged as one of the top mixed art schools in the USA. Lichtenstein has 280 Jiu-Jitsu students, (ages 7 to 70), that he teaches 4-5 times a week. He is also a Pan Am Ultra Heavyweight Gold Medalist.
