EMBLEM CLUB: Middletown Emblem Club #452 will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, aUG. 1, 7 p.m. in the Crystal Ballroom of the Elks Lodge. Susan Charter, President, will preside. Topic of discussion is the CT State Association Meeting to be hosted by Middletown #452, Aug. 19. Volunteers are needed; thoughts and ideas for a breakfast menu, for the state meeting, will be discussed. Officers contact President Sue if unable to attend.
BOOK LOVERS: Book Lovers Circle meets Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Durham Public Library. “Killers of the Flower Moon” by David Grann will be discussed. Copies of the book are available at the library. All are welcome.
MUSIC AT THE MANSION: The Friends of Long Hill Estate and the Long Hill Estate Authority with sponsorship from Middlesex Hospital host the Music at the (Wadsworth) Mansion series, 6:30 p.m.; grounds open for picknicking at 5:30 p.m. Concerts will be held in light rain or the threat of showers, but cancelled with the proximity of electrical storms. MIDDLETOWN BOOKMOBILE: The Middletown Bookmobile will be near the Russell Library’s Broad Street entrance, 1-2 p.m. on Wednesdays, July 11, 18, 25 and Aug. 1. Children of all ages are welcome to choose free books they can take home to keep. In case of rain, a selection of free books will be available in the Activity Room. SPOON MAN: The one and only Spoon Man will visit the Deep River Public Library on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 5:30 p.m. The Spoon Man has traveled the globe playing spoons for over 23 years, even appearing on America’s Got Talent.
