Students earn recognition, degrees from area colleges
Bucknell University
LEWISBURG, Pa. — Eliza Romeyn of Durham, Class of 2019 at Bucknell University, was named to the dean’s list during the spring semester of the 2017-18 academic year.
A student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive recognition.
Southern New Hampshire University
MANCHESTER, N.H. — Southern New Hampshire University has named students to the winter 2018 president’s list.
Eligibility requires a student accumulate an academic GPA of 3.7 to 4.0 and earn 12 credits for the semester.
Locals are Erika Cantarella of Cromwell, Megan Decker of Durham, Kristopher Kuchinski of Durham and Grace Kucharski of East Haddam.
Pennsylvania College of Technology
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Pennsylvania College of Technology has released the names of local students who made the spring dean’s list and earned degrees.
Austen J. Caron of Higganum received a bachelor of science degree in building automation technology, cum laude. He also made the dean’s list.
Jonathon M. Conway of Durham earned two associate’s degrees: in applied science, diesel technology; and heavy construction equipment technology with an emphasis in Caterpillar equipment. He also earned high honors.
Conway also won the William J. Stitzel Memorial Award, presented to a diesel technology graduate who best exemplifies Stitzel’s dedication to the institution through service to the college community and academic achievement.
University of Scranton
SCRANTON, Pa. — Kevin Banach of Middletown was among the 54 University of Scranton students inducted into Upsilon Phi Delta, the national honor society for graduate and undergraduate students in health-care administration. Banach is a graduate student pursuing a health administration degree.
Students must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.5 for induction. The university’s chapter of the honor society was established in 2002.
Salisbury University
SALISBURY, Md. — Two Middlesex County area students were named to the dean’s list at Salisbury University for the spring semester: Alexander Van Vilet of Old Saybrook and Hillary Ramsdell of Westbrook.
Wheaton College
NORTON, Mass. — Sarah Kavalkovich of Cobalt was placed on the dean’s list at Wheaton College for the spring semester. This member of the class of 2020 is the daughter of William Kavalkovich and Susan Mahler.
Students receive the honor by earning a GPA for the semester of 3.50 or higher.
Mackenzie Goller of Ivoryton graduated from Wheaton on May 19, during the college’s 183rd commencement ceremony. Goller earned a bachelor of arts in agriculture, food/ society. He is the son of Ethan Goller and Rona Malakoff.
Regis University
WESTON, Mass. — Regis University has named 415 students to the dean’s list for academic achievement for the spring semester, including Nicole Bitinaitis of Cromwell, class of 2021.
To be eligible as a senior, junior or sophomore, a student must have a semester GPA of at least 3.5. For first-year students, a semester GPA of at least 3.25 must be attained.
