University at Albany

ALBANY, New York — The University at Albany held commenceme­nt May 18-20. Locals who earned degrees were: Alexandra Clymas of Chester, Magna Cum Laude, Bachelor of Arts in English; Kelly Carufe of Ivoryton, Summa Cum Laude, Bachelor of Science in Nanoscale Science.

LIM College

NEW YORK, New York — Michaela Seidl of East Haddam received a Bachelor of Business Administra­tion degree in Visual Merchandis­ing from LIM College in May.

Lasell College

NEWTON, Massachuse­tts — Lasell College announced the students named to the spring Dean’s List. Students with this accomplish­ment are full-time degree candidates who completed 12 or more credits in the spring semester, with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

They are: Kaitlyn Conway of Clinton, Kara Mather of Durham, Lily Anderson of Essex, Alex Balletto of East Hampton, Marianna Bean of Westbrook, Sophia Carasone of Clinton, Emma Velez of Killingwor­th, Connor Wall of East Hampton, Kelly Cappitella of East Haddam, Madison Kasperski of East Hampton, Jacqueline Zambrano of Westbrook, Natalia Martins of Westbrook and Isabella Raffone of Westbrook.

Eastern Connecticu­t State University

WILLIMANTI­C — A group of Eastern Connecticu­t State University students were honored at the annual Environmen­tal Earth Science Department’s awards ceremony May 3. Awards were bestowed upon students who excelled in research or academic excellence.

Noah Hallisey ‘18 of Westbrook, who majors in Environmen­tal Earth Science, was presented with the Sustainabl­e Energy Science Recognitio­n Award.

Western New England University

SPRINGFIEL­D, Massachuse­tts — The Western New England University chapter of Mortar Board National Honor Society welcomed students at its annual induction ceremony this spring, including Alexander Fletcher of Cromwell and Alison Spadorcia of East Hampton.

Assumption College

WORCESTER, Massachuse­tts — The Assumption College Department of Psychology has announced that Kyle Bermani, of Portland, has become a member of the Psychology National Honor Society, Psi Chi. Bermani, Class of 2020, was inducted into the honor society this spring.

Psi Chi was founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouragin­g, stim- ulating, and maintainin­g excellence in scholarshi­p, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergradu­ates, of junior or senior academic standing, who have chosen psychology as their major or minor.

Inductees must also have completed nine semester hours of psychology courses, rank in the top 35 percent of their class, and have a minimum grade point average of 3.25, in both psychology classes and in overall cumulative grades.

The Department of Sociology, Criminolog­y and Anthropolo­gy has announced that Daniella Pitruzzell­o, of Cromwell, has become a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, the internatio­nal honor society in sociology. Pitruzzell­o, Class of 2019, was inducted into the honor society this spring.

Alpha Kappa Delta was founded in 1920 at the University of Southern California, home of one of the first department­s of sociology in the United States.

To be inducted, students must be in their junior year, hold an minimum grade-point average of 3.0, and rank in the top 35 percent of their class. Eligible students must also complete at least four sociology courses, earning an average GPA of 3.0 or higher in those four courses.

Hudson Valley Community College

TROY, New York — Arielle Dufour of East Hampton was named to the spring President’s List at Hudson Valley Community College. Dufour is studying in the nonmatricu­lated academic program.

Each fall and spring term, the college’s President’s List names those full-time students and parttime students registered for at least six college credits who have a term average of between 3.5 and 4.0 and who received no grade of “D,” “F,” “I,” “Z,” or “W” on their record for that term. Students must have completed at least 12 college credits successful­ly.
