‘Tour de Shore’ returns in October
The Vista Tour de Shore cycling event and fundraiser will once again make its way along the shoreline on Sunday, Oct. 14, celebrating 10 years of supporting the personal success of individuals with disabilities. In honor of this milestone, riders, sponsors and supporters kicked off the season with a party at Zane’s Cycles in Branford on June 28.
Open to cyclists of all skill levels, the Vista Tour de Shore features routes of 5, 25, 40 and 60 miles along the shoreline, offering riders the opportunity to enjoy scenic views during the height of fall foliage. All routes start and end at the Westbrook Elks Lodge.
Participants can also enjoy a post-ride celebration at the Westbrook Elks Lodge complete with raffle drawings, food, live music and prizes.
Over the past nine years, a total of 2,000 riders have hit the road with the Tour de Shore to raise funds benefiting the endowment fund of Vista Life Innovations, a nationally accredited post-secondary program that provides services and resources to individuals with disabilities. The event has, to date, net nearly $500,000 for the Vista Endowment Fund.
Among the thousands who have biked in the Tour de Shore are Vista’s own students and members. More than 100 Vista students and members have participated in the event since its inception, actively fundraising and riding alongside avid cyclists and Olympians.
