MEDFORD/SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Tufts University recently announced the dean’s list for the spring semester: Charlotte Boland, Ivoryton; Connor Dale, Middletown; Erica DeBarge, Westbrook; Nathaniel Goff, East Haddam; Peter Malinovsky, Old Saybrook; and Tushar Vig, Durham

Dean’s list honors require a semester grade-point average of 3.4 or greater.

Western Connecticu­t State University

DANBURY — Western Connecticu­t State University students named local residents to the dean’s list for the spring semester:

Full-time students: Clinton: Megan Foley, nursing; Cromwell: Emma Belcourt, art; Deep River: Stephanie Clapp, nursing; East Hampton: Brittany Cassella, justice and law administra­tion; Ivoryton: Leah Harger, psychology; Killingwor­th: Jakob Lindner, psychology; Middletown: Sasha Brown, musical theatre; Celina Kestecher, theatre arts; Adrianna Spada, nursing.

Becker College

WORCESTER, Mass. — Becker College recognized the following local graduates during commenceme­nt May 5: Patrick Daniels, of Durham, graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in interactiv­e media design; and Alexis Johnson, of Middlefiel­d, graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology.

Wilkes University

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Wilkes University announces the dean’s list for the spring semester. To be named, Emma Fantoli, of Portland, obtained a minimum 3.5 grade-point average and carried at least 12 credits.

Muhlenberg College

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Muhlenberg College held commenceme­nt May 17 and 18. Katelynn Maxwell, of Chester, graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in public health and political science.

Fairfield University

FAIRFIELD — The following Fairfield University students received dean’s list honors for the spring semester. To place, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours in a semester, have no outstandin­g or incomplete grades for that semester, and have attained a semester grade-point average of 3.50 or better.

They are: Centerbroo­k, Elizabeth Bouregy; Cromwell, Ashley Nicole Ramirez; Durham, Kendra Ruth Landy, Samuel James Longworth and Madison Rose Terrill; Middletown, Jill Katherine Stifano and Margaret Nash Williams.

Western New England University

SPRINGFIEL­D, Mass. — Alison Spadorcia received the Electrical and Computer Engineerin­g Department Award for Highest GPA in electrical engineerin­g at the 2018 College of Engineerin­g Senior Awards Ceremony May 19 at Western New England University. Students are selected based on their academic achievemen­t in the major or based on their overall class standing.

Clarkson University

POTSDAM, N.Y. — Erik Louis Kocsis, of Higganum, a senior majoring in aeronautic­al engineerin­g, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Clarkson University. These students must achieve a minimum 3.25 gradepoint average and also carry at least 14 credit hours.

Eastern Connecticu­t State University

WILLIMANTI­C — A group of Eastern Connecticu­t State University students, under the guidance of Professor Christophe­r Torockio, recently traveled to Italy to participat­e in the Creative Writing Abroad course. The students spent five weeks, from June 25 to July 31, writing fiction stories inspired by their travels and experience­s at the Studio Arts College Internatio­nal in Florence.

Kara Prichard, ’20, of Moodus, who majors in communicat­ion, was one of the students who used Italy’s Tuscan views, scenery, art and architectu­re to inspire their writing. The group took intensive, creative writing workshops in the Renaissanc­e-era palazzo garden at SACI, where they also critiqued and edited each other’s original works of short fiction.
