Carpino a realist who deserves re-election

-

I firmly believe we all as constituents should be on a familiar basis with our members of the General Assembly.

I support Christie Carpino, R-Cromwell, who is running for re-election to the Connecticut House of Representatives from the 32nd District. Rather than focus on her achievements, of which there are many (as can be viewed at her website votecarpino.com), I prefer to focus on Christie the person.

When I first approached and met Christie, it was following her first term in office. I coldcalled her and asked for a brief meeting over coffee to introduce myself as a resident of the 32nd. She immediately accepted my invitation with a bright and cheerful tone.

When we sat down for a cup, I told Christie that I was impressed with her philosophy and freshman efforts and wanted to help her return to her seat. I also told her that, in full disclosure, I had worked on her previous opponent’s campaigns for the last several elections.

She said, “I know, but let’s move on and make things better.”

I have since worked on each of Christie’s campaigns and I do believe things are getting better.

Christie is a realist, Christie is relevant, and Christie should continue to represent. She is deserving of our support to return as the 32nd District state representative. She is accessible, positive and engaged. She is a working mom with two young children, expertise and experience. I am proud to be her constituent and equally proud to call her a friend. You will see me going door to door with her as I have for her previous campaigns, and I am honored to associate my name and my record with hers. Mark Zampino, member,
