Cops seek suspect in 4 armed robberies
WESTBROOK — State police are searching for a man they say robbed at least four gas stations at knifepoint in three towns over a two-week period in the Middletown area.
Officers from Troop F in Westbrook, with the assistance of Middletown police, are investigating armed robberies that took place in the early morning hours between Aug. 21 and Sept. 5, according to a press release.
The first and second crimes took place Aug. 21 and 27 between midnight and 2 a.m. at the Sunoco Gas Station, 110 Saybrook Road, Haddam, police said.
A third robbery occurred Aug. 27 at the Gulf Gas Station, 339 So. Main St., Middletown, and a fourth Wednesday just before 5 a.m. at the Valero Gas Station in Durham, the release said.
In all four surveillance videos, the suspect is a white male, wearing a gray or light blue hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants and a mask covering his face, who brandished a knife and demanded cash from the register upon entering the store, according to officials.
In a least three of the robberies, the male is believed to be using an older model light-colored Toyota Forerunner, the report said.
Anyone who thinks they may have any information regarding these armed robberies or who thinks they may know the suspect’s identity is asked to call Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Detective Pat Dwyer at 860250-6817.
