‘Rhythms of Nature’ features three artists
MADISON — Susan Powell Fine Art will present “Rhythms of Nature: David Dunlop, Deborah Quinn-Munson, Jeanne Rosier Smith,” Sept. 7-30, with an opening reception Friday from 5-8 p.m. The public is welcome and wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
The exhibition is a first for these three nationallyacclaimed artists showing together. All are well known for their contemporary, unique and dramatic oil and pastel paintings of nature.
David Dunlop is a modern-day old master whose luminous landscapes draw from both Renaissance techniques and contemporary science. He is an Artist, Teacher, Lecturer and Emmy award-winning television host and writer of the PBS Series entitled, “Landscapes through Time with David Dunlop.” His paintings have been shown internationally and are held in the collections of major corporations. His contemporary abstractions based on nature, in his distinctive technique of oil painting on aluminum and copper, are appealing to collectors of both traditional and contemporary art.
Deborah Quinn-Munson is an elected Signature Member of The Pastel Society of America, Connecticut Pastel Society and the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod. Other elected memberships include the Salmagundi Club in NYC, Copley Society of Art in Boston and the Providence Art Club.
She has received many distinctions for her work, which is known for its bold color, energetic line, and strong composition; elements which are primary to her as a painter to convey a powerful image filled with atmosphere and light. Her pastel and oil paintings are in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the country.
Jeanne Rosier Smith maintains a Pastel Studio School, teaches around the country, and is represented by several galleries. Smith is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the American Society of Marine Artists, the Connecticut Pastel Society and the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, an IAPS Masters Circle member, a member of the Salmagundi Club and a Copley Society Master Artist.
She has placed in the Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100 for the past six years, including first place in 2017. Her work has appeared in International Artist Magazine, American Art Collector, and The Pastel Journal, and she is a regular contributor to the Pastel Journal, which featured her work in August 2018. Her paintings are in collections on five continents.
