Maple Leaf Seven open 2018-19 season
MIDDLETOWN — The acclaimed “Maple Leaf Seven” Traditional Jazz Band, of St. Johnsbury, Vt., are scheduled to perform at Middletown’s MHS Performing Arts Center on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 7.
This is the opening concert of the Greater Middletown Concert Association’s 2018-19 season.
On Saturday, Nov. 17, the association will present the ever-popular opera, “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, in an updated version, live and fully-staged by the Connecticut Lyric Opera and Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra.
In the spring of 2019 on Saturday, April 27, the Hal McIntyre Orchestra , a 13-piece Big Band jazz band, will perform in Middletown. Hal McIntyre, now deceased, was born in nearby Cromwell. He joined the Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller bands before forming his own. The band is now directed by Don Pentleton.
“Turandot,” the last opera by Giacomo Puccini, composer of “Madama Butterfly” and “La Boheme” fame, will be performed live and fullystaged on Saturday, May 11, by the Connecticut Lyric Opera and the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. The opera, sung in Italian, has a passionate Chinese story theme throughout.
It will conclude the Greater Middletown Concert Association’s 2018-2019 Season.

Individual adult concert (jazz) tickets are $35 (front) and $30 (rear).
Individual adult opera tickets are $40 (front) and $35 (rear).
The adult two-concert jazz series subscription is $65 (front) and $55 (rear).
The adult 2-opera series subscription is $75 (front) and $65 (rear).
The four-performance series subscription (2 concerts and 2 operas) is $135 (front) and $120 (rear).
