Reporters should be condemned for fake news or distorting real news

-

Regarding the Forum article of Aug. 21 — “No, Mr. President, we're not the 'enemy of the people'”. I think there was a word missing from this title. That word is “all” and belonged between “not” and “the.”

Certainly there are good reporters but there is a large grouping that I call the “scab pickers”. These people completely overlook any good things that have resulted from the Trump presidency and instead focus on any poorly picked word or sentence used by our non-politician president. They also pick on Melania's high heels, accent or things too numerous to mention.

Llewellyn King's comparison of our president to foreign tyrants, most of whom were guilty of genocide, is completely off base and doing so he shows his true colors and motives, putting himself squarely in the Enemy category. Yes, “find the news and publish it” is a great idea, but the more appropriate term for many reporters is find the news and “color it”.

I enjoy ABC's David Muir but delete the first 10 minutes because it is absolutely predictable. Trump could find and announce a cure for cancer and the first 10 minutes would be exactly the same negative diatribe. I think the issue is not calling all reporters the “enemy” but condemning those reporters when they create fake news or distort real news. They should have a hard time looking in the mirror every morning. Ed Cowern North Haven
