DeLise, Sherman lead Hopkins over Riverdale

Phil DeLise ran for a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass and Owen Sherman scored two touchdowns to lead the Hopkins football team to a 25-14 prep school win over Riverdale in Riverdale, N.Y. on Saturday.

Sherman scored on a 2-yard touchdown run and he caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from DeLise who completed 6-of-12 passes for 98 yards. Sherman had three receptions for 84 yards for Hopkins (3-0).

Harry Landis led Riverdale (2-6) and completed 9-of-21 passes for 133 yards and a TD.

Sheehan 62, Guilford 20: Weston Terzi threw four touchdown passes and Aaron Simmons caught two and Jordna Davis caught two to lead the Titans to their SCC win. Terrence Bogan added a pair of touchdown runs, one on a 70-yard run and another on a 1-yard run, for the Titans. Ethan Vashel led the Indians with a 27 yard touchdown run and he threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Miles Gabriel.

BOYS SOCCER

Seymour 7, Derby 0: Griffin Tomas had four goals and an assist and Luis Marquez had three saves to lead the Wildcats to their NVL win. Seymour improves to 3-2. Dennis Marroquin had three saves for the Red Raiders (0-5).

GIRLS SOCCER

Haddam-Killingworth 3, Coginchaug 3: Halley Cassidy, Leah Sosnowski and Kedarjah Lewis scoredto lift the Cougars to their Shoreline Conference win. Samantha Paul, Ashley Woodward and Sara Smith scored to lead the Blue Devils. Rebecca Fisher had nine saves for the Cougars (1-3-2) and Claire DeFlora had 10 saves for the Blue Devils (2-3-1).

Lauralton Hall 2, Branford 0: Jackie Haversat and Julia Sciallo each scored to lead the the Crusaders to their SCC win. Macey Girard had four saves for the Hornets.

FIELD HOCKEY

Hamden Hall 5, Wilbraham & Monson 0: Brianna Bell had a goal and an assist and Ellise Parnoff had six saves to lead the Hornets to their prep school win in Hamden. Molly Anderson, Kelly Thomas, Karis Curtis and Lily Venditto also scored for the Hornets (1-0-1). Kylie Kane had 10 saves for Wilbraham & Monson (1-1-1).
