HIGBY MOUNTAIN HIKE: On Saturday, October 6, from 10am to 1:30pm, Beth Lapin will lead a hike at Higby Mountain through Middletown's Recreation Division, Saturday, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Hike is moderately difficult hike due to length and steepness; over 16 must be with an adult; hike is not suitable for young children. CEMETERY TOUR: The Clinton Historical Society invites the public to take a tour through the Indian River Cemetery, led by Bob Bruch, longtime sexton and historian for the Clinton Cemetery Associatio­n, Saturday at 2 p.m. Rain date is Oct. 13. See some of the oldest gravestone­s in the cemetery, revealing the history of Clinton’s earliest settlers including Jared Eliot and Abraham Pierson. DOGS ON THE DOCK: Connecticu­t River Museum’s 13th annual “Dogs On The Dock” parade and competitio­n, Oct. 7, rain or shine. Registrati­on at 1 p.m., lawn parade at 2 p.m., prizes awarded. Categories include best costume, best nautical costume, best owner look-alike, smallest dog, biggest dog, best trick and best dock jumping. Dock jumping dogs must wear a harness to participat­e.
