Vote for Haines in 34th District

-

I am supporting Irene Haines for state representative for the 34th District. Irene has always been active in her community and gets things done.

She has served as both president and cultural arts coordinator for the East Haddam Middle School Principal Advisory Council. She is a founding member, past president and violist in the Colchester Civic Orchestra. She was the founder and board member of the East Haddam News. She was the Chatham Girl Scout Service Unit Manager (East Haddam and East Hampton), a cadette and senior Girl Scout leader (East Haddam) and served as the East Haddam Youth & Family Local Prevention Council business liaison.

Irene is a past president of the East Haddam Business Association and a member of the East Haddam Economic Development Commission. Last year, she spearheaded the revival of the East Haddam Holiday Doors. Irene has also served as an Alzheimer’s Association event coordinator and Rathburn Library trustee.

Irene regularly attends the East Hampton Board of Finance meetings to get a better understanding of the finance issues in East Hampton. She is committed to seeing that state funding for education is not cut.

Carpino approaches government with common sense

As a working mother with a good head on her shoulders, state Rep. Christie Carpino, R-Cromwell and Portland, sought public office before it became fashionable. She did it because it needed doing.

She’s been a champion for women and her voting history proves it. Christie has voted to support pay equity, assist victims of domestic violence, guarantee essential health benefits to women, and to address sexual assaults on college campuses. Her common-sense approach and willingness to listen makes her the one I want representing me in Hartford.

Vote Christie Nov. 6 because she’s a woman we know will do what’s right.

Allison Brown, Cromwell Ziobron best candidate for Senate

I am endorsing Melissa Ziobron as our next state senator for the 33rd Senate District. While I was on the East Hampton school board, I learned just how important is was to have strong support in Hartford by our state representatives. Melissa has always been a strong supporter of education from her own days on a school board and that showed through with her strong support of the East Hampton School District.

Melissa did a great job for East Hampton as our state representative and deserves our support. Please join me in voting for Melissa Nov. 6.
