KeyBank donation to aid financial literacy

NEW HAVEN — KeyBank Foundation recently awarded a three-year, $300,000 grant to the Connecticu­t Associatio­n of Human Services to help lower-income city and state residents through the BankOn New Haven initiative, the city’s Financial Empowermen­t Center, and CAHS’ financial literacy programs, according to a news release. With the support, CAHS will provide financial education and help people reduce debt, improve credit, and increase the use of banking services, the release said.

“At the core of KeyBank’s community commitment is helping our neighbors thrive financiall­y through responsibl­e banking and responsibl­e citizenshi­p,” KeyBank Market President Jeff L. Hubbard said in the release. “We are proud to partner with CAHS and the city of New Haven to empower low- and moderate income residents to realize their financial goals.”

CAHS was brought on by the city to help develop the Financial Empowermen­t Commission, “to bring together local public officials, government agencies, financial institutio­ns and community organizati­ons to work together

to improve the financial stability of lower-income individual­s and families in the community, as well as the re-entry population,” the release said.

this integrated effort by CAHS and the City of New Haven to help City residents open safe and affordable bank accounts, receive one-on-one financial coaching, and achieve their financial goals,” Gloria Caesar, CAHS program

Chamber sets awards breakfast

ORANGE — The Orange

Chamber of Commerce will hold its 2018 Awards Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 25 at Grassy Hill Country Club, according to a release.

The event is sponsored by Coldwell Banker.

The event celebrates “businesses and individual­s who contribute to the community and economic well-being of the Town of Orange,” the release said.

According to the release, restaurant chain TGI Fridays will be honored with the Notable Newcomer award; the Chamber Service Award will go to two recipients, the Town of Orange and Eli’s Orange; the Community Service Award is being given to Avangrid; the Milestone award will go to Eagle Leasing; Business of the Year will go to Coldwell Banker; and the Business Person of the Year award will be presented to Vincent Marino of Cohen & Wolf Attorneys at Law.

Guest speaker will be forensic scientist Henry C. Lee, currently director of Forensic Research and Training Center and Distinguis­hed Professor in Forensic Science of the University of New Haven.
