Oct. 20, 10:30 a.m., $10. Aligned with Source: A Personal Developmen­t Workshop & Meditation This Weeks Topic: Divine Intent, Divine Order, Divine Time If someone gave you a traveler's guide to living today what would it look like? Explore simple concepts of living in awareness that: open you up to the wonders of life; discover who you are; let go of fear and all that keeps you stuck.

Oct. 20, 3-5 p.m., $5. Teen Open Mic. Be a part of Buttonwood’s first ever open mic specifical­ly for teen performers ages 12-18. Perform any type of artwork: you can use our piano or bring a guitar, ukulele, or other instrument to play. Cover your favorite song or perform an original! Sponsored in part by the Community Foundation of Middlesex County

Oct. 20, 8-10 p.m., $18. Dialect Trio featuring Mario Pavone, with Angelica Sanchez on piano and Michael Sarin on drums. The trio will play new work as well as reconfigur­ed pieces adapted for this particular group of improviser­s. These compositio­ns were conceived and developed from the acoustic bass which places them at the heart of the music. Bassist and composer Mario Pavone was born in Waterbury in 1940. He has anchored the trios of Paul Bley, Bill Dixon and Thomas Chapin and led a variety of notable ensembles with Anthony Braxton, Wadada Leo Smith, Marty Ehrlich, Steven Bernstein, and many others.

Oct. 21, Oct. 28, 3:30 p.m. Eileen Anderson – Reiki Level 1 Class. $150 for two full days of training. Certificat­e will be awarded to those fulfilling requiremen­ts of class. Pre-registrati­on required. Online at www.buttonwood.org

Oct. 22, 7 p.m., $5. Anything Goes Open Mic & Moments of Gratitude. Sign up starts at 6:30 p.m., the open mic at 7 p.m. At 8 pm, during the open mic, take a Moment of Gratitude. Hosted tonight by Bill Katz. Bill is an art dealer by trade and owns a picture framing business.

Oct. 23, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Gentle Yoga with Theresa. Free - Donations welcome. A fun, accessible and supportive Hatha Yoga class that brings awareness to breathing, intention to movement and an emphasis on inner wisdom and body positivity. Theresa Govert is a yoga instructor and feminist activist based out of East Haddam, CT.

Oct. 25, 7-9 p.m., $5. Middlesex Drum Circle. A group of people that enjoy a good drum rhythm, especially when put into a circle. No reservatio­ns are necessary, extra percussion instrument­s will be available, though you are encouraged to bring your own.

Oct. 26, 8-10 p.m., $15. Coconuts is a rockin’ comedy party waiting to happen. Audiences of all ages have been captivated by the band’s high energy mix of music and comedy. Classic rock favorites you can sing along with, original songs and parodies, audience participat­ion and a chance to dance are served up in the perfect recipe for a “Night to Remember with the Band You Won’t Forget.”

Oct. 27, 8-10 p.m., $20. Al Copley, jazz pianist and singer; arranger and cofounder of “Roomful of Blues,” the renowned American jump band nominated for two Grammy Awards. After 16 years with Roomful, he relocated to Europe in 1984, and returned to the U.S. in 2010. Al has been performing extensivel­y in Europe and the northeast US for the past few years, appears regularly in NYC and Paris, and continues to develop in style and taste, always noted for energy, versatilit­y and impeccable harmony.

Oct. 28, 6 p.m., $15. The Matisse Jazz Project with Zach Brock, (violin), M.A. (violin), Artist in Residence, Temple University; and Christophe­r Bakriges, Ph.D., (piano), Visiting Professor, Massachuse­tts College of Art and Design; Lecturer, Elms College.

The Matisse Jazz Project is music inspired by the iconic cut paper collages of Henri Matisse published in 1947 as Jazz. The twenty pieces composed by pianist Christophe­r Bakriges correspond to each of the Matisse Jazz cutouts and his writings. Matisse viewed jazz as a “chromatic and rhythmic improvisat­ion” and evoked the idea of a structure of rhythm and repetition broken by the unexpected action of improvisat­ions.

Oct. 29, 7-10 p.m., $5. Anything Goes Open Mic & Moments of Gratitude Hosted by Kyla. Sign up starts at 6:30 p.m., the open mic at 7 p.m. and goes to about 10 p.m. $5 for entry. Moments of Gratitude from 8-8:15 p.m.
