Built in 1938, this exquisite home is a fine example of the Colonial Revival style, nestled among other fine homes in Hamden’s highly sought-after area of Spring Glen. Brimming with period charm, the home is graced with an abundance of architectural details such as arched entry ways, crown moldings and sixover-six-paned windows that exude a feeling of warmth and character.

“This is a home to be lived in and truly enjoyed,” listing agent DiDi Strode said. “The home is large, over 3,700 square feet, yet it feels very intimate.”

Strode’s partner, Olivia Martson, agrees.

“The home has a warmth and wonderful light throughout,” she said. “And the versatile layout offers owners the option for au pair, guest or in-law accommodations with two private rooms on the third floor.”

A circular driveway sets the stage for an impressive approach to the home and the neatly manicured .39-acre parcel, whose grounds are highlighted by ornamental plantings, a classic white picket fence and wooden arched entry and a beautiful bluestone patio.

The decorative columned porch makes a welcoming entry into the gracious foyer with arched doorways, a handsome staircase, crown moldings and hardwood floors that span throughout.

Entertaining areas include a spacious formal living room with a handsome wood-burning fireplace and French doors that open to a finely appointed dining room featuring a bay window with window seat and original built-in corner hutch. The living room also opens to a wonderful sunroom with walls of windows that fill the space with light and leads to the bluestone patio.

One of the home’s most stunning features is the gorgeous gourmet kitchen boasting Viking six-burner gas cooktop, Wolf double ovens, center island, granite counters and paneled Suband

Zero refrigerator that matches the custom cabinetry. An adjacent room can serve as a breakfast nook or possible study.

“This is a kitchen for those who love to cook with appliances and drawers located expertly to make cooking a breeze,” Strode said.

From the kitchen, a butler’s pantry with wet bar and wine chiller leads to French doors that open to the patio, makes outdoor entertaining a delight.

A sitting room and a powder room richly finished with paneled walls completes the main level.

Upstairs are four bedrooms an additional bonus room with office, providing plenty of space for family and guests. The generously proportioned master bedroom suite offers a private escape with French doors that open to a private balcony overlooking the picturesque yard. The master suite extends from the front of the house to the back and includes a walk-in closet and luxurious master bath with travertine tile, a large glass-enclosed shower and separate tub.

Three more spacious bedrooms and two full baths complete the upper level.

On the third floor are two bonus rooms that can suit a variety of uses such as an office, recreation room, media room or guest quarters. A partially finished basement also offers space for leisure and recreation.

Additional features include a two-three car, attached garage, security system and central air conditioning. Owners will enjoy a convenient location close to major universities such as Yale and Quinnipiac, Yale-New Haven hospital and easy access to highways.
