Peace Wall coming to Stockman
NEW BRITAIN — Middletown-based Artists For World Peace is bringing the Peace Wall to the Stockman Gallery at Trinity-on-Main, 19 Chestnut St., New Britain, Nov. 3, 1-6 p.m.
The exhibit will feature Connecticut artists, including works contributed to the Peace Wall by the New Britain Arts Alliance and CCSU art students.
The Peace Wall Project has quickly become a movement since it was started in October 2017.
To date, more than 2,000 artists from 48 states in the US, Italy and Canada have painted a 6-by-6 canvas to be displayed on the traveling Peace Wall.
Each painting is available for $50, with the proceeds used to fund the Native Eyes Project.
Artists for World Peace (AFWP), an organization of artists and supporters committed to changing the world, one child, one family, one village at a time, was formed 16 years ago by founder and executive director, Wendy BlackNasta of Middletown, Connecticut
Artists for World Peace has been hosting free eye clinics since 2014.
The first clinic was hosted in Tanzania and the project has continued to expand- caring for more than 4,200 patients to date. Last year the “Native Eyes Project” was launched — bringing free eye care to Native American communities across America. In June, AFWP held a week-long eye clinic for the residents of Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota.
On Oct. 6-7, AFWP brought much needed eye care to Native Americans in Connecticut and Rhode Island.
