Change Inc. volunteers paint pumpkins for sick kids
MIDDLETOWN — Clients and staff of the Middletown-based home care and behavioral health services agency Change Inc. painted pumpkins for the Family Resource Center at Hartford’s Connecticut Children’s Medical Center last week.
“This was the perfect opportunity to put a smile on the faces of the children and their families at CCMC. Artistic expression is extremely therapeutic for the individuals we serve,” Change Inc. Director of Marketing Beth Dance said in a prepared statement.
Supplies, including pumpkins, apple cider and pumpkin cookies, were purchased from Lyman Orchards in Middlefield.
“We made this a social event for our clients. To come out and spend the afternoon at our office, enjoy cookies and apple cider, and let the paintbrush do the rest. Each person left the event feeling proud of their contribution and with long lasting memories to boot,” she said.
In addition to this event, the organization most recently donated handmade holiday cards for soldiers through Operation Gratitude and treated its clients to equine therapy in Old Lyme and Hartford, according to a news release.
“We are all dedicated to the social services industry, and any opportunity we find to help others is a benefit for all parties involved,” Derrick Gibbs, CEO of Change Inc., said in the release.
