St. Luke’s Home Fund to continue mission
MIDDLETOWN — The Board of Trustees of St. Luke’s Home and the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Middlesex County recently announced the establishment of the St. Luke’s Home Fund at the Community Foundation of Middlesex County, according to a news release.
St. Luke’s Home was founded in 1865 as a nonprofit organization committed to serving the various needs of seniors and veterans in Middlesex County. Facing ongoing changes in state and federal funding streams, the St. Luke’s Board of Trustees voted Oct. 4 to dissolve the organization and continue to be faithful to its 150-year mission by establishing the St. Luke’s Home Fund at the Community Foundation of Middlesex County, according to the release.
The newly formed St. Luke’s Home Fund will provide financial support to designated nonprofit organizations whose work supports the organization’s long tradition of services. All activities will be under the auspices and guidance of a St. Luke’s Fund Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation. Current members of St. Luke’s Board of Trustees will serve on the Fund Advisory Committee. They include Terence Morris, Pamela Amodio, Jennifer Glick, Jason Cassese, and Joseph Santaniello.
According to St. Luke’s Board of Trustees President Terence Morris, “After careful consideration, the Board of Trustees and Executive Director mutually agreed to entrust our remaining resources to the dedicated and faithful stewards at the Community Foundation of Middlesex County so that older adults and veterans in our communities continue to receive the entrenched local advocacy and support they do both richly deserve and need.”
St. Luke’s Home, with a recent agency name change to The Community Follows The Patriot, offered several programs including VETS4VETS Transportation Program, Gatekeeper for older and disabled veterans, the Veterans Benefit Enrollment Center and the Patriot Career Help Center.
Now, through the St. Luke’s Fund, designated nonprofit organizations that address similar needs will receive funding support.
