Birdie Bash welcomes all fans on Saturday

MIDDLETOWN —The Parrot Club’s biggest annual event, Birdie Bash 2018, features an exciting line-up of activities for exotic bird enthusiast­s from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, at the Elks Club in Middletown, Connecticu­t. A live raptor show presented by Ashford, Connecticu­t-based Horizon Wings is the highlight of the day’s festivitie­s, which are open to the public.

Bird lovers of all ages will marvel at bald eagles, an owl and other birds of prey, as educators from Horizon Wings share stories of their bird rehabilita­tion efforts and insights about ways to protect these magnificen­t wild birds during an 11 a.m. presentati­on.

At 1 p.m., bird owners can learn how to make inexpensiv­e foraging toys for their pets during a presentati­on by parrot behavior consultant Sheila Blanchette of Heart of Feathers Education.

Members of Connecticu­t’s most enduring organizati­on for companion bird owners will also display their exotic birds during this 17th annual event, which also features a marketplac­e: the ideal place to shop for birds and bird owners on your holiday list.

Birdie Bash 2018 also features exhibits and opportunit­ies for both experience­d and prospectiv­e bird owners to learn about adopting and caring for parrots and other pet birds. Refreshmen­ts and fundraiser tickets will be sold. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children under 12; non-members may not
