Forensic scientist Henry Lee to marry Dec. 1
LITCHFIELD — Henry C. Lee, the world-renowned forensic scientist, announced in a news release that his wedding to Xiaping Jiang of Yangzhou, Jiangsu, China, will be held Dec. 1 in Litchfield.
The ceremony will be presided over by retired Superior Court Judge Charles Gill, a friend of Lee’s.
The ceremony is to be attended by family members only, according to the release.
The couple will reside in Connecticut after the wedding. The future bride was born in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, China in 1956. She has a master’s degree in business administration. She is employed as the CEO of Jiadi (Hong Kong) Co., Yangzhou Jiadi Clothing Co., Ltd, and Yangzhou Jiadi Senior Care Center, according to the release. Jiang also serves as the executive member of the council of the Jiangsu Media Arts Association, and is deputy director of the Initiative Committee of the Nanjing University Asian Film Research Center.
In addition to her garment design and manufacturing businesses, Jiang is also dedicated to writing, according to the release. She is the author of several books and scripts, including the screenplay “Nirvana of Phoenix,” the novel “Where Love Has Gone,” and a collection of prose works, “The Life on Water.”
Lee, who has famously investigated legendary crimes of the era, including JonBenet Ramsey, OJ Simpson, the Connecticut woodchipper murder and Laci Peterson, often uses wit and expertise in public talks he gives.
Lee is a chair professor at the University of New Haven and the founder of the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science. His late wife of 55 years, Margaret Soong Meow Lee, died in 2017.
He was the chief emeritus for the Connecticut State Police Forensic Science Laboratory from 2000 to 2010 and was the commissioner of Public Safety for the state of Connecticut from 1998 to 2000. He served as the state’s chief criminalist from 1978 to 2000. He has assisted 86 countries, investigating more than 8,000 major cases, the release said.
