2 players reach 1,000 point plateau

Gracen Kerr, a 5-foot-4 junior guard for Kolbe Cathedral scored her 1,000th career point in a 58-27 win over Brookfield on Tuesday.

On the same night, Lyman Hall’s Kailey Lipka, a 5-4 senior guard, scored her 1,000th point as Lyman Hall nearly upset East Haven, losing 51-48.

Danbury defeated Darien 49-35 Monday night.

It was the eighth-straight win for the Hatters but also win No. 496 for coach Jackie DiNardo.

DiNardo would be the ninth girls basketball coach to reach the milestone.

UNBEATENS

Going into play Wednesday, four unbeaten teams remained in the CIAC.

From Class LL No. 2 Trumbull (11-0) and No. 3 Norwalk (10-0) out of the FCIAC .

Both will be tested next week. Trumbull hosts No. 5 Hamden Monday at 7 p.m. Norwalk travels to No. 1 New London Jan. 26.

Trumbull travels to Norwalk Feb. 11.

The other two undefeated teams are in Class S: East Hampton (10-0) and Housatonic Regional (10-0).

East Hampton out of the Shoreline gets a test Friday when it plays host to 9-2 Cromwell at 6 p.m.

Representi­ng the Berkshire League, Housatonic Regional has been rolling.

The Mountainee­rs beat Shepaug Valley by six earlier in the year. The two play again Friday. A rematch with Northweste­rn (10-1) looms in February for Housatonic.
