MILLER, SR., ELMER GEORGE

Elmer George Miller, Sr., 88, of Cromwell, beloved husband of Loreen (Crowell) Miller, died Tuesday, January 16, 2019 at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Wallingford, son of Edward and Anna (Mitchell) Miller.

George was a talented craftsman and started his own welding company, George’s Welding Service, in Higganum. He later worked for the town of Wethersfield for eight years and retired from Pierson/Baystate Florist Supply in Cromwell. George had a love for animals. Besides his wife Loreen, George is survived by his children, Elmer G. Miller, Jr. and his wife Joanne of NC, Robert J. Miller and his wife Susan of Hebron, Carolyn Rosenthal and her husband David of FL, Peter A. Niesyn and his wife Sandra of Deep River, Ryan P. Niesyn and his wife Michelle of Tolland, sister, Grace Schiro and her husband Philip, grandchildren, Pam, Doug, Alyssa, Jamilee, Felicity, Hayden, Michael, Lindsay, Jennifer, five great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lydia, brothers, Edward Jr., Joseph and Harold Miller. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown.
