Bowl-making workshops
HEBRON — Students and staff are prepping for their 3rd Biennial Empty Bowls Dinner event to be held in the Spring of 2020 by planning workshops for volunteers to participate in making soup bowls. This year, the goal is to make 300 soup bowls to be offered to dinner attendees at the next event. No experience necessary to participate in making bowls.
Pre-registration for workshops is required to attend, with a imit of 20 participants per workshop. Call 860-228-9474 ex. 2946 or email Carrie Dinunzio to sign up at carrie.dinunzio@rhamschools.org
The 2018 Empty Bowls Dinner raised more than $7,000 for the food banks in Hebron, Andover and Marlborough. Workshops will be held on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning or afternoon in the ceramics room at RHAM High School. Art teachers Carrie Dinunzio and Beverley Fisher will run all workshops with the assistance of National Art Honor Society students.
Staff, students and community members are invited to attend workshops and no experience is necessary for beginner workshops. Anyone interested in learning to work with clay and get a little messy for the cause can sign up for beginner workshops. Intermediate workshops are for volunteers comfortable working more independently with the clay. Glazing will be done at Beginner workshops starting in February. We are also seeking experienced wheel throwers who would be willing to use their talents to make bowls either at the school or in their own studio spaces. Clay will be provided.
Workshop schedule: Feb. 22, 3-5 p.m., beginners; Feb. 23, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., intermediate, March 9, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., beginners; March 30, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., beginners; April 5, 3-5 p.m., intermediate; April 27, 2-4 p.m., beginers, glazing only.
