Catholic Charities is Stop& Shop beneficiary
MIDDLETOWN— Catholic Charities was recently selected as a beneficiary of the Stop& Shop Community Bag Program.
The Stop& Shop Community Bag Program, which launched in May 2019, is are usable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal tomake a difference in the communities where shoppers live andwork.
Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich was selected as a beneficiary of the program by store leadership. Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased designating them as the beneficiary.
“As more and more grocers and Connecticut retailers begin to phase out single use plastic bags, reusable bags will become a necessity for everyone. Being able to purchase a reusable bag and help a nonprofit like Catholic Charities is a winwin. Every dollar makes a difference for an agency like ours and every dollar counts. I hope that Stop and Shop customers will consider Catholic Charities as their beneficiary,” said Edward J. Tessman, Executive Director of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich, in a statement.
