Mayoral candidate believes in transparency

-

I am happy to support Mary Bartolotta as our next mayor. In 2011, Mary was elected to the Middletown Common Council, and hasn’t stopped working since.

As a councilwoman, Mary has been made the lives of countless Middletown families better. She believes in a politics of transparency and access. Since she grew up in a working class family, Mary understands that politics should be led by the people, and for the people. I count myself among one of the many people Mary has helped through her excellent work as a councilwoman.

Mary is a sincere friend of the Middletown Police Department. She values the excellent work the department does each day. Mary’s husband is a devoted member of the police force, and she is well aware of the sacrifices each officer makes to keep this town safe. We would be lucky to have her lead us through this polarizing time in this city’s history.

With Mary as our new mayor, Middletown will continue to thrive environmentally, economically and educationally. She has fought for new ecofriendly policies, such as banning plastic bags in Middletown. Yet, she is simultaneously a friend of small businesses and worked to help downtown Middletown thrive. Mary cares deeply about the children of Middletown, and has been instrumental in the creation of the new middle school.

More than anything, Mary cares about Middletown. She wants to make this a better place to live and grow, and has dedicated the last eight years to achieving exactly that. During the years I have known Mary, her desire to improve this wonderful city where we all live has never wavered. That’s why I am writing to strongly endorse Mary Bartolotta for mayor.
