Brainerd preparing for book, bake sale

-

EAST HADDAM — Brainerd Memorial Library’s annual Book and Bake sale will begin Sept 20, 10 a.m.6 p.m., with the book sale continuing Sept. 21. On Sept. 23, any remaining items will be offered at special prices from 10 a.m.8 p.m.

The Friends always accept books and DVDs, and ask patrons help contribute to the big sale by bringing their donations throughout the summer. Be sure all items are saleable, not soiled, yellowed, moldy, or damaged, and gently used.

The Friends of BML invite you to check out our relocated and renovated bookstore, the Book Nook. The Nook is behind the nonfiction section of the Library at 920 Saybrook Rd in Haddam. Stop in and browse, relax in our comfy chairs, have a coffee or tea and take advantage of our monthly sales. Regular low prices start at 25¢. DVDs, CDs, paperbacks and a large selection of hardcover fiction and nonfiction are arranged by author and subject. Special items include DVD series, unique books, and BML merchandise.

Through August, the Book Nook is running a “Beach Reads” special, buy one, get one free.

The Book Nook is open during library hours. Cash, checks, plastic, and PayPal are accepted. Friends’ funds support library programs and events, and materials, technology, and furnishing purchases.

The BML website and Facebook pages post sales and events.

The Friends are also sponsoring and promoting summer reading with gift bags for children. Children can pick up a tote bag which will include a free book coupon, bookmark, and library card application.

Volunteers are always welcome. The Friends get together on Thursday mornings and for a monthly meeting. Stop in or visit http://www.brainerdlibrary.lioninc.org/friends
