Dismayed by actions of legislative branch

-

When does this circus end? I am not referring to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. I am talking about the conduct and behavior of our illustrious leaders in the legislative branch, a branch of government founded on the premise to represent all Americans and to look out for the best interests of its citizens and our country. This mission and responsibility have recently taken a back seat, something that is sad to even comprehend and even sadder to admit.

I do live a comfortable life and believe in democracy, which is one of the most difficult forms of government to make work. Our founding fathers and mothers founded a country based on freedom, due process and increasing the quality of life for its citizens. A task which has taken a back seat to the childlike games our leaders have engaged in. By reviewing the news, you can see our leaders wavering on many points, points many years ago they were dead set on, however, today they lean the other way due to a change in political philosophy, a change of heart or just as a tactic to form a thorn in the side of a fellow legislative leader across the aisle.

Is this what our hardearned tax dollars were meant for? I work hard to earn my living and although do not necessarily enjoy paying taxes, I see them necessary to support my country and the tenets it supports, the most important being a free and accepting society. Our leaders are willing to openly state they are accepting of everyone from all different religions, races, creeds and genders and sexual orientations, however they never seem to accept their fellow members of government who may have a different political ideology. This is a practice that has inhibited the branches of government from accomplishing the main goals and objectives of our country, to ensure that this great country of ours thrives, its citizens are provided for and that our notion of government and freedom never fades from the face of the earth!
