Realtors raise $3,800 to fight homelessness
MIDDLETOWN — The Greater Hartford Association of Realtors gathered July 17 to raise funds for the city-based Coalition on Housing and Homelessness , a nonprofit that strives to end all types of homelessness in Middlesex County, Meriden, and Wallingford.
Event participants enjoyed food and live music from three Middletown restaurants: Esca Wine Bar, La Boca, and Mezzo Grill. The evening included prizes donated by sponsors and area businesses, according to a press release.
The Realtors association presented a check for $3,873 to Ann Faust, executive director of the Coalition on Housing and Homelessness. Proceeds from the event will support a network of service providers that work together to streamline and standardize the process for individuals and families that are homeless to get housing, according to the release.
“This is our fifth year organizing this event, and it only gets better,” Sara Etienne, of eXp Realty, one of the organizers of the event, said in a prepared statement.
“It’s all thanks to the generosity of Realtors, their friends and the area Middletown businesses who come together to support a worthwhile, housing related charity,” she added.
The Greater Hartford Association of Realtors is the largest local real estate trade association in Connecticut, serving over 4,000 members in the 27-town greater Hartford real estate brokerage community, according to the agency.
The association provides technology, training, networking and business support to members, and supports the real estate market by upholding high professional and ethical standards through a code of ethics, ongoing education and certification programs.
