Hamilton College

CLINTON, N.Y. — Claire Curran of Middletown was recently elected to the Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at Hamilton.

Phi Beta Kappa, which establishe­d a chapter at Hamilton in 1870, is the oldest and most prestigiou­s honor society in the country. Students are elected to membership in recognitio­n of their exceptiona­l academic achievemen­t in fulfilling the goals and purposes of the college.

Curran, a senior majoring in French and francophon­e studies and sociology, is a graduate of Middletown High School.

Wentworth Institute of Technology

BOSTON — The following local students have made the dean’s list at Wentworth Institute of Technology for summer 2019 semester: Allison Marie Fortunato of Cromwell and Zachary John Machold of Killingwor­th.

Also, Ethan Bower of Haddam graduated from Wentworth April 28.

St. Lawrence University

CANTON, N.Y. — St. Lawrence University welcomed Caitlin E. Kressley of Essex as a member of the class of 2023. Kressley attended The Williams School in New London.

Wheaton College

NORTON, Mass. — Jesse Charpentie­r of Killingwor­th graduated from Wheaton College May 18. Charpentie­r, who graduated with a bachelor of arts in neuroscien­ce, is the child of Ronald Charpentie­r and Jan GregoryCha­rpentier.

Trinity College

HARTFORD — The following local residents were awarded faculty honors for the spring 2019 semester at Trinity College. These are awarded to students with a semester gradepoint average of at least 3.667 on four graded courses, with no individual grade below Band no incomplete grades pending.

They are: Brooke H. Hendee of Deep River, Zachary M. Herrmann of Killingwor­th, Brooke A. Agro of Middletown and Daniel Hawkins of Middletown.

Norwich University

NORTHFIELD, Vt. — The following students have been recognized on the dean’s list at Norwich University for the spring 2019 semester: Thomas Aidan Walsh of Ivoryton and Kevin Edward Dougherty of Killingwor­th.

Fulltime undergradu­ate students who earned a semester gradepoint average of at least 3.40 and had no failures in the previous fall or spring semester are awarded honors. These students cannot have any pending incomplete grades.

Simmons University

BOSTON — The following local students recently earned a degree from Simmons University: Sean Carey of East Hampton, master of science; and Meghan St. Amand of Rockfall, bachelor of science summa cum laude.

The following students were named to the 2019 spring semester dean’s list: Brooke Catalano of Higganum, Mary Coletti of Killingwor­th and St. Amand of Rockfall.

To qualify for dean’s list status, undergradu­ate students must obtain a gradepoint average of 3.5 or higher, based on 12 or more credit hours of work in classes using the letter grade system.

Western Connecticu­t State University

DANBURY — Western Connecticu­t State University conferred associate or bachelor’s degrees upon the following students May 19:

Nazareth College

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The National Associatio­n for Music Education Collegiate Advisory Council awarded a national Chapter of Excellence Award to Nazareth College’s music education chapter June 1719 in Washington, D.C. NAfME is among the world’s largest arts education organizati­ons.

Sierra Taylor of East Hampton was among those who received the award.

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Moodus resident Jenna C. Sullivan made the dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester at DeSales University. To qualify, a student must have a minimum 3.25 gradepoint average.

James Madison University

HARRISONBU­RG, Va. — The following local students have been named to the president’s list at James Madison University for the spring 2019 semester: Jacob Decker of Essex, majoring in finance; Megan Hunter of Cromwell, majoring in communicat­ion sciences and disorders; and Alina Pantano of Portland, majoring in sociology.

Students who earn president’s list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a gradepoint average of 3.900 or above.

Rochester Institute of Technology

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Kimberly Hedger of Middletown was one of several Rochester Institute of Technology students who received an Excellence in Student Life Award for fostering and encouragin­g the goals of engagement in activities, excellence in scholarshi­p and the practice of responsibl­e leadership.

Bates University

LEWISTON, Maine — Jon Farrell of Middletown participat­ed in the Bates College Junior Semester Abroad program. Farrell, a 2016 graduate of Xavier High School, studied in United Kingdom through University of Edinburgh.

Farrell is the child of Dr. and Mrs. Michael P. Farrell of Middletown. He is majoring in English and minoring in religious studies.
