These students have earned recognitio­n through their superior scholastic performanc­e during a semester enrolled in a fulltime course load (12 or more graded credits).

Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester gradepoint average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Those with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors, and students whose gradepoint average is 3.5 through 3.64 are given honors.

James Madison University

HARRISONBU­RG, Va. — James Madison University announces the following students made the dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester. Those who earn the honor must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a gradepoint average of between 3.5 and 3.899.

Old Saybrook resident Mackenzie Marie Bosco is majoring in geographic science. Cromwell resident Megan Leigh Hunter is majoring in communicat­ion sciences and disorders. Portland resident Alina Pantano is majoring in sociology.

University of Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A total of 11,406 students enrolled during the 2019 spring term at The University of Alabama were named to the dean’s list with an academic record of 3.5 or above, or the president’s list with an academic record of 4.0 (all As).

These recognize fulltime undergradu­ate students.

Locals are: Delaney Savage of East Hampton, dean’s list; Grace Burleson of Essex, president’s list; and Kiley Lord of Portland, president’s list.

Armed forces basic training

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — U.S. Air Force Airman Jonathan E. Ellery graduated recently from basic military training at Joint Base. The airman completed an intensive, eightweek program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Ellery is the son of Melissa I. and Keith E. Ellery of Cornwall, Vt., and brother of Lauren N. Ellery of Cornwall, and William G. Ellery of Haddam.

He is a 2017 graduate of HaddamKill­ingworth High School.

Becker College

WORCESTER, Mass. — Becker College recognizes spring 2019 graduate Melissa Mau of Haddam, who earned an associate’s degree in veterinary science, with an animal care concentrat­ion.
