- By Press Staff

MIDDLETOWN — The Connecticut River Conservancy is offering the public a chance to meet the state’s new river steward, Kelsey Wentling, during a welcome party next week at the deKoven House.

The event will take place Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the DeKoven House, 27 Washington St.

Participants will receive a preview of the agency’s priorities for Connecticut in 2020, according to a press release.

Wentling, who will be operating out of the Middletown office, joined the organization as a river steward in September. She graduated with master of science degree in environmental conservation from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, according to the release.

Her research explored how science and policy interact in transboundary river basins, using case studies to identify ways to promote the use of science in management decisions. She also has experience with volunteer engagement and helping folks make a difference for their communities and local environment, the agency said.

The event will be held at 27 Washington St. Light refreshments will be served. To attend, visit ctwelcomeparty. eventbrite.com.
