From long range: Leading the way: Mismatch?: KEEP AN EYE ON

UConn’s perimeter defense will face one of its stiffest tests of the season. DePaul is second in the country in both 3-pointers made (123) and attempted (353).

“They’re going to make a bunch of 3s and they’re going to press you (on defense),” coach Geno Auriemma said. “There’s nothing you can do.”

The Blue Demons were 14-of-36 from behind the arc in Saturday’s victory over Alabama State, their seventh straight.

“On the defensive end, we’ve got to get out on their shooters or else they’re going to blow us out,” guard Molly Bent said. “Coach has told us that multiple times this week.”

Junior Megan Walker is ninth in the nation with 22.1 points per game. She’s already led the Huskies in scoring five times this season.

Lately, though, Auriemma’s been equally impressed with Walker’s ability to crash the boards. She pulled down 13 in last Sunday’s win over Notre Dame, including four on the offensive end.

“You’ve got to understand, Megan had two offensive rebounds our first six games — total,” Auriemma said. “She had four today. What’s that tell you? There’s a lot left in her tank of what she can do. She’s just beginning to scratch the surface.”

The Blue Demons don’t have anyone taller than 6-foot-2 on their roster, meaning the 6-5 Olivia NelsonOdoda could be a mismatch that the Huskies can exploit. Nelson-Ododa has made strides offensively as a sophomore, averaging 11.6 points on 44.3 percent shooting.

“They don’t have a matchup for her,” Auriemma said. “But then they don’t have anybody that she can guard. They don’t have a center.”

Raising their game:

The Huskies are 37-3 against ranked opponents (either the Associated Press or Coaches’ poll) during the regular season since 2014-15. Two of those three losses (Baylor and Louisville) came last season.
