Geno Auriemma has scored another recruiting victory, landing a commitment from Class of 2022 prospect Isuneh Brady.

Brady, a 6foot4 forward from Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, is the No. 2 post player and No. 3 overall prospect in her class, according to ESPN.

Her AAU coach, Elbert Kinnebrew of the Cal Sparks program, tweeted the news Tuesday: “ISUNEH ‘Ice’ Brady, @calsparksclub 2022 6.4 Fwd, commits to UCONN. Keep working. Sky’s the limit,” he wrote above a picture of her in a UConn sweatshirt.

Brady, who visited campus last month, is UConn’s first commitment from 2022 and helps bolster a growing frontcourt.

“She’s an absolute competitor on both ends of the floor,” her high school coach, Jackie Turpin, said by phone. “She doesn’t settle and constantly wants to get better. Even after games, she’s putting up extra shots. She’s not satisfied with where she is. The upside with her is amazing.”

Turpin said Brady received interest from roughly 30 schools. She wasted no time deciding on her next home, choosing last month.

The 65 Olivia NelsonOdoda will graduate a year before Brady arrives. However, the Huskies should be welloff in the frontcourt with Brady slated to join Class of 2021 commits Amari DeBerry (No. 5) and Say

lor Poffenbarger (No. 17), who are 65 and 62, respectively. UConn also has 65 Piath Gabriel (unranked) coming in next season.

Brady averaged 16.5 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.5 blocks for Cathedral

Catholic last season.

“She has a great backtothe basket game” Turpin said. “Her faceup game is just growing tremendously. The foot speed and the ability to guard multiple positions, it’s going to be huge. She just does a little bit of everything. … It’s something special.”

Another honor: UConn legend Rebecca Lobo was named one of six recipients of the 2020 Silver Anniversary Award, which is given to distinguished athletes on the 25th anniversary of the conclusion of their college athletic careers.

Lobo will be honored during the NCAA Convention on Jan. 22 in Anaheim, Calif., along with Carla

Ainsworth, Stewart Cink, Darren Eales, Jenny Thompson and Adam Vinatieri.

Lobo was the unanimous national player of the year in 1995 and helped lead the Huskies to their first national championship.
