Sacred Heart men’s hockey: The Pioneers defeated Yale and Quinnipiac on consecutiv­e nights to win the inaugural Connecticu­t Ice Festival. Jason Cotton led the way with two goals and two assists, 13 other Pioneers had at least one point while Josh Benson stopped 43 of 46 shots.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Bakary Camara, Bridgeport men’s basketball and Rich Kelly, Quinnipiac men’s basketball: Both players scored the 1,000th points of their collegiate careers. Camara reached the milestone in Saturday’s 107-87 win over Mercy, while Kelly surpassed the 1,000-point mark with a 3-pointer early in the second half in a home win against Fairfield.

HOMETOWN FOCUS

Kieran Smith, Florida men’s swimming: Sophomore from Ridgefield won three events to lead the Gators to a win over Auburn. Smith won the 100 freestyle with a 43.50 seconds, 100 backstroke in 47.96 and 400 individual medley in 3:47.25.

3: Quinnipiac men’s lacrosse ranking in preseason MAAC poll. Jake Tomsik was named MAAC’s Co-Preseason Player of the Year along with Marist’s Peyton Smith.

3: Preseason National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Associatio­n ranking for Quinnipiac. Seniors Camren Diaz of Oxford and Melanie Mancini of Waterbury return after earning AllAmerica­n honors in 2019.

3.39: Collective gradepoint average of Hartford’s teams during the fall semester. A total of 17 teams had GPAs of at least 3.0 and 63 individual­s had 4.0 GPAs.

10: Points in a game ending 15-4 run by Trinity’s Peace Kabari to lead the Bantams women’s basketball team to a 60-57 win over Connecticu­t College.

11: Number of 3-pointers in Central Connecticu­t men’s basketball team’s 86-76 win over Wagner, the program’s first win over a Division I program this season.

11.75: Throw, in meters, for Eastern Connecticu­t’s Wendie Stewart in the shot put at Springfiel­d’s Massasoit Classic to earn Little East Conference Rookie of the Week honors for second time this season. 21.37: School record time in 200 meters by Yale men’s track and field freshman Marcus Woods at John Thomas Terrier Classic.

32: Points by Tyreek Perkins to go with six rebounds, six assists, two steals and three blocks in Albertus Magnus men’s basketball team’s win over Saint Joseph’s (Maine). It was the second straight overtime win for the Falcons.

37: Saves on 38 shots by Pierce Diamond against SUNY Canton as Albertus Magnus men’s hockey team won on the road for the first time. 43: Offensive rebounds in last two games for Wesleyan men’s basketball team as Cardinals extended winning streak to four games.

53: Season-high rebound total by Southern Connecticu­t State men’s basketball team in win over Franklin Pierce. Greg Jones had 15 rebounds and was one of three Owls with at least 10.
