Leo “Lee” Liberman age 96 of Tower Lane, New Haven, passed away with his family by his side on Feb. 21, 2020. Devoted husband of 75 years to Lillian (Estren) Liberman, married on Feb. 27, 1944.

Born in Springfiel­d, Ma on Sept. 12, 1923, he was the son of the late Jacob and Rebecca Liberman.

Devoted Father of Anita Silver of Berlin, Kathi Liberman of Rocky Hill, and Laurie Becker (Benny) of Orange. Cherished grandfathe­r of Jennifer Cavey (Joseph), Brian Silver (Rebecca), Maggie Becker, Timothy Becker (fiancé Elise Bitterman). Treasured great-grandfathe­r of Ryan, Matthew, Libby and William. Predecease­d by his sister Tessie Sadowsky and brother Joseph Liberman.

Lee fought in WWII in the Battle of the Bulge. He was past president of The Orchard St. Shul and Adas Israel Assoc. An active member of the Knights of Pythias, Westville Synagogue, Jewish Historical Society, Hebrew Free Loan and Burial Assoc., Armdi and NALU. Lee volunteere­d for over 25 years at St. Raphael’s heart unit and was instrument­al in starting their Take Heart Program. He also worked for Metropolit­an Insurance for over 40 years.

Funeral Services will be held at the Robert E. Shure & Son Funeral Home, 543 George St., New Haven, CT on SUNDAY morning February 23, (Today) at 9:30 a.m., with Interment Services to follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, 60 Fitch St., New Haven. A Traditiona­l Period of Mourning will be held from 4-8 p.m. at the family’s home, 364 Woodland Ln., Orange, CT. Memorial contributi­ons may be sent to Beth Israel Synagogue (The Orchard St. Shul) at 232 Orchard St., New Haven.
