Water main replacement project underway in Clinton
CLINTON — The section of Glenwood Road between Route 81 and Liberty Street is closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Connecticut Water will be replacing 9,500 feet, or about 1.8 miles, of a more than 100-year-old water main on Glenwood Road between Route 81 and Iron Works Road, according to a press release. The $3.7 million project is expected to continue through the end of September.
Clinton police will be on site to direct traffic around the construction area.
“This project will improve reliability of water service, enhance water quality, and supply more water to hydrants along the road,” Craig J. Patla, Connecticut Water vice president of service delivery, said in a prepared statement.
The project is being done through the company’s Water Infrastructure and Conservation Adjustment program, the release added.
Since the inception of the program in 2007, Connecticut Water has invested more than $175 million and replaced more than 145 miles of water mains, which averaged 75 years of age. Connecticut Water owns and maintains 1,700 miles of water mains across the state.
The utility has notified customers along the construction route about the project. For information, visit ctwater.com/ projects.
