Out-of-state visitor frustrated with parking
My niece said you would like to have a photo of my husband and son for the article. This was taken at the opening reception January 11, 2020. The paintings behind them are two of our sons. I hope this will do.
No one at the courthouse bothered to post signs on the front door indicating it was closed.
There is virtually no parking for the public on the street nearby, or around, the courthouse. The garage next to it, built with taxpayer money, is not open to the public.
I stopped at the police station for information that day. Behind it is a full square block of parking for authorized police vehicles and employees, but nothing for the public.
Driving around to the front of the building on Main Street — again, no public parking. All along Main Street for almost the length of the block, there are windows covered in brown wrapping paper. The building looks abandoned. Is it too hard to identify police headquarters by putting arrows and an entrance sign?
Apparently all the people with intelligence or common sense in Middletown are within the precincts of Wesleyan University. This is a bureaucratic and self-serving town, and not particularly wellmanaged. It’s not the kind of town I would like to live in.
My advice is to hired a credentialed town planner and town workers who have initiative and common sense.
I realize the courthouse issue I raised is probably the fault of the state. I am not sure what governing body regulates courthouse area parking.
The issues between town and state regarding parking can be resolved with the citizens and visitors to Connecticut in mind.
