Andrews’ 3-pointer helps Yale women slip past rival Harvard

Ellen Andrews made a game-winning three-pointer with 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter to lead the Yale women’s basketball team to a 60-58 Ivy League win over arch-rival Harvard at Paine Whitney gym in New Haven on Saturday.

With the Bulldogs leading 57-56, Rachel Levy made two free throws to give the Crimson a 58-57 lead with 35 seconds to go in the game, setting up Andrews’ game-winning shot.

Roxy Barahman led the

Bulldogs with 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals and Camilla Emsbo added 17 points and 10 rebounds. Andrews ended up with nine points and five rebounds and Tori Andrew had 10 points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs (19-8, 9-5).

Jeannie Boehm led the Crimson (15-12, 6-8) with 19 points and 15 rebounds, Lola Mullaney added 16 points and Levy had 14 points and nine rebounds.

Quinnipiac 63, Canisius 57: Shaquana Edwards scored 20 points, including six three-pointers, to lead the Bobcats to their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win in Buffalo, New York to close out their regular season. Paige Warfel added 15 points, 19 rebounds, five steals and four assists for the Bobcats (1514, 12-8). A.J. Timbers and Danielle Sanderlin each had 18 points and eight rebounds for Canisius (5-24, 4-16).

MEN’S LACROSSE

Long Island University 13, Quinnipiac 9: Nick Grassa had four goals and an assist and Richie LaCalandra

added three goals and four assists to lead LIU (1-5) to its non-conference win in Brookville, New York. Tyler DeVito led the Bobcats (0-6) with three goals and Jake Teller had two goals and an assist.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

Yale 11, Brown 10: Anna Vetsch scored the gamewinnin­g goal unassisted with 1:35 left in the second half to lead the Bulldogs to their Ivy League come-back win at Reese Stadium in New Haven. The Bulldogs (3-2, 1-1) trailed the Bears 9-6 in the second half and went on to score five of the last six goals of the game for the come-from-behind victory. Olivia Penoyer led the Bulldogs with three goals and four assists and Clare Boone made 12 saves. Alaina Parisella led the Bears (3-3, 0-2) with three goals.

Binghamton 10, Quinnipiac 8: Olivia Batista had three goals and an assist to lead Binghamton to its non-conference win in Hamden. The Bobcats led 6-5 at halftime but Binghamton (2-5) scored four straight goals to open the second half to take control of the game. Megan Szawlowski and Gabby Beckett each had a goal and an assist for the Bobcats (2-4).

No. 13 New Haven 13, No. 21 New York Tech 11: Four goals and an assist from sophomore Marina Skelly and the first career hat trick for freshman Annie Acquavita of Cheshire led the Chargers to their win at Kathy Zolad Stadium in West Haven. Gianna Guerra had nine saves for the Chargers (2-0). Shannon Donovan had two goals and an assist for New York Tech (2-2).
