Wilbur Cross to induct eight people, one team

Eight people and one team will be inducted into the Wilbur Cross Athletic Hall of Fame on April 9 at 6 p.m. at Cascade Fine Catering in Hamden.

This year's honorees are as follows: Barbara Thaxton, a former girls basketball state championsh­ip coach; Neal Eley (1994), a former track and field standout; Ron Moye (1986), boys basketball; Troy Streater (1989), football; Kevin Miller (1962), swimming ; Donny Brassil (1962), hockey; Dan Hardy (1969), boys basketball; Bill Reaves (1967), boys basketball; and the 1979 Cross boys basketball team that defeated Northwest Catholic for the 1979 Class LL state championsh­ip.

TAP-OFF CLUB HOF

The New Haven Tap Off Club, Inc. will be hosting the annual All-County and Scholar-Athlete Dinner on Tuesday, March 31 at the Villa Bianca in Seymour.

The Tap Off Club will also be honoring its Boys’ Basketball Coach of the Year, Michael Kohs of Xavier; Girls’ Basketball Coach of the Year, Joseph Cavallaro of Shelton; and the Hank Luzzi Official of the Year, Brad Chernovetz of the Internatio­nal Associatio­n of Approved Basketball Officials, Board 10.

The Girls’ 2020 AllCounty Team includes: Jillian Martin of Amity; Natasha Rivera of Ansonia; Tiahna Pulliam of Crosby; Sara Wohlgemuth and Brooke Salutari of Hand; Alexis Pendziwate­r and Taylor Salato of East Haven; Asya Brandon of Hamden; Keyshan Johnson of Hillhouse; Alyssa Hebb of Holy Cross; Elena Farquharso­n of Sacred Heart Academy; Aamya Rivera of Sacred Heart, Waterbury; Caitlyn Hunt and Madison Larkin of Sheehan; and Leya Vohra of Shelton.
