A number of ways to give beyond just one donation

Middlesex United Way has been blessed for the past 85 years to receive gifts, both large and small, in so many different shapes and forms. There are a number of ways to give that fall outside of a simple one-time donation. These contributions allow for continued or specialized giving, ensuring your impact is felt for years to come.

Did you know you could donate on behalf of someone else? Do you have a family member or friend who has always been extremely special to you? Making a gift to Middlesex United Way in their name is a way to celebrate and honor them. Not only are you bettering the community but you are also honoring your loved one. Honorary or memorial gifts provide a unique and lasting way to commemorate a milestone, a special occasion or to honor someone’s memory with a gift.

You will see an option for memorial and honorary giving on our online donation tool. Charitable gifts are tax deductible and our website makes it convenient to complete for donors. An acknowledgment letter is sent to the person/family, letting them know of your gift without disclosing the amount.

Another way to create impact in a unique and meaningful way is to leave a legacy gift. The Red Feather Society is a group of individuals who have decided to leave a legacy gift to Middlesex United Way, ensuring they will continue to make a difference in the community for today and tomorrow.

A legacy gift can come in many different forms, such as a cash contribution or appreciated stock, a gift of retirement assets, a bequest in a will, a donation of Life Insurance Policy, a charitable gift annuity, a charitable remainder trust, or a charitable lead trust.

Middlesex United Way is an active participant in a nationwide Leave a Legacy campaign to educate donors about the importance of leaving something in their wills to charities they care about.

By providing for the future through planned giving, you make it possible for Middlesex United Way to continue to advance education, health, housing and financial stability for generations to come.

A gift of an IRA, 401(k) or other retirement plans could result in substantial tax savings. If you are interested in making a gift right now and you are 70 ½ and older, the Charitable IRA Rollover allows you to make direct transfers of IRA assets to qualified charities without paying income tax on the withdrawals.
