Haddam-Killingworth Relay for Life committee members have scheduled their meetings for the June 27 Relay for Life at HK High School. Relay is a benefit for the American Cancer Society. Volunteers are needed and teams are also registering now. All meetings held at Haddam-Killingworth High School, Little City Road, Room C112, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dates are May 20 and June 24. The Ivoryton Public Library will begin offering curbside service to its patrons May 20, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m., and 9 a.m.-noon on Saturdays. Patrons can request Ivoryton library materials by calling 860-767-1252, or by emailing staff@ivorytonlibrary.org. The items will be placed in a labeled bag and put on a table outside or given directly to you by arrangement. Items include books, puzzles, crossword puzzle books and assorted magazines. Thursday, May 21 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION:
Regional School District 17 kindergarten registration is open this month. Parents should email Dennis Reed, principal of Killingworth Elementary School, at dreed@rsd17.org or call 860-663-1121, or Brienne Whidden, principal of Burr District Elementary School, at bwhidden@rsd17.org or call 860-345-4584. A registration packet will be mailed to your address. Once your return packet is received by the school, your child or children are registered. Any more paperwork can be submitted this summer. Proof of residency includes deed or current mortgage bill, as well as homeowners policy, rental agreement, bank statement, current pay stub, etc. Parent orientation has been postponed; new dates will be announced.
SUMMER MARKET: Durham’s summer market starts May 14 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. and continues weekly. Residents are reminded to follow state guidelines for physical distancing, proper handwashing and masks; all vendors will be wearing coverings and masks; one customer at each booth at a time.
