ConnectiCare, local businesses provide meals for health workers
MIDDLETOWN — ConnectiCare, in collaboration with Carmela’s on the Extension and the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce, provided breakfast for 75 health care workers at Middlesex Hospital on May 14.
The donation was made by ConnectiCare as a thank you to front-line workers serving the Middlesex County community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release.
“During these unprecedented times, ConnectiCare is honored to be able to support those who are tasked with caring for the health and well-being of Connecticut’s residents,” Eric Galvin, president of ConnectiCare, said in a statement. “Providing breakfast is just a small token of our appreciation for the many ways front-line workers at Middlesex Hospital are tackling this health crisis.”
The individually wrapped meals, prepared and delivered by Carmela’s on the Extension, included an assortment of breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, breakfast potatoes and fruit.
“The delicious breakfast helped staff start the day on a positive note, and we are very grateful,” according to Middlesex Health president and CEO Vincent G. Capece Jr.
“We’re thankful for the opportunity to work with ConnectiCare to bring a hot breakfast to the frontline doctors and nurses that give their all every day,” Carmela Schiano, owner of Carmela’s on the Extension, said in the release.
“We are so proud of the amazing contribution from ConnectiCare to our outstanding and dedicated Middlesex Health employees who have been working hard every day during this difficult time,” according to Larry McHugh, Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce president.
