JOE’S LIGHTS: Joe’s Amazing Lights is having a limited-run summer lights show intended to bring joy to the community and raise funds for the Connecticut Food Bank. The show is 12 minutes long and uses more than 6,500 lights, roughly 2,000 feet of extension cord, and is synchronized to favorite summer hits. BUTTERFLY RELEASE: The Van Wilgen family’s Van Wilgen Garden Center event will feature the release of 402 butterflies, one for each year the family has been in the nursery industry, 10 a.m. June 13, on Facebook Live, www.facebook.com/VanWilgens. The garden center is is also creating “Butterflies to Go” kits with a chrysalis and butterfly-attracting plant, allowing families to share the magic of the metamorphosis at home.

CRUISE NIGHT: Middletown’s annual Cruise Night on Main Street, June 14, 1 p.m., is an actual ride, showcasing classic and antique vehicles on a 3.8-mile trip through Middletown, starting from NAPA, 1260 Newfield St., Middletown. The route has been designed to pass the police station, fire station and Middlesex Hospital and will ask participants to honk as they drive by to give a big thanks to first responders, front line and health care workers. Various knitting and crocheting enthusiasts from East Hampton, Hebron and Marlborough and students from Epoch Arts created this special fiber arts installation for everyone’s enjoyment, June 4-July 12.
