MIDDLETOWN — Liberty Bank, along with several partners, recently launched a series of free virtual workshops to assist individuals, families and small businesses experiencing financial hardships due to setbacks caused by COVID-19.

The webinars are scheduled throughout June and July with plans to add more in the near future, according to a press release.

They include Liberty’s Academy for Small Business, first-time home buyer lunch-and-learn courses, and workshops focused on understanding credit reporting and money values.

The bank is partnering with organizations across the state to help neighbors in every corner, it said.

They are: CRT Women’s Empowerment Center, the Connecticut State Library and several of its members, East Hartford Connects; Habitat for Humanity (various chapters in Connecticut), Middlesex/New Haven Association of Realtors, Spanish American Merchants Association, Thames Valley Council for Community Action, Tri-County Board of Realtors, Valley Association of Realtors, Greater Hartford Association of Realtors, SCORE (various chapters throughout the state), and the Women’s Business Development Center, the release continued.

“Since 1825, Liberty Bank has been dedicated to serving our communities and providing financial resources and tools that help families and small businesses succeed,” Glenn Davis, vice president of community development/CRA officer said in a prepared statement.

“As the impact of the pandemic continues to unfold, we are reinforcing our 195-year dedication to economic development, sustainability and to helping Connecticut

grow,” Davis added. “Today, more than ever before, we are committed to assisting our neighbors who are struggling during these uncertain times, and to help with crisis recovery through teamwork, education and financial guidance.”

Following talks with local community members and organizations, the development team and its partners realized the need for virtual financial workshops as families and small business owners were unsure where to turn for assistance, according to bank officials.

In addition to this series, Liberty provides information through its online learning center, which provides money management advice, easy-to-use financial tools and more through educational videos. For details, see learningcenter.libertybank.com.
