For the second time in less than a month, the UConn football program landed a Fairfield County prospect who headed off to Avon Farms.

Quarterback Tyler Phommachanh from Stratford announced his commitment to the Huskies on social media on Friday wrapping up his newsbreaking post by writing “it’s an honor and a blessing to say that I am staying home and committing to the University of Connecticut”.

He will have a familiar target when he gets to UConn in 2021 as Avon Old

Farms receiver Josh Tracey of Bridgeport announced his commitment to UConn on May 22.

Phommachanh, the younger brother of Clemson quarterback Taisun Phommachanh, threw six touchdown passes on just 16 attempts in a win over Kent in September and helped the Winged Beavers post an 8-1 record.

He is the first Connecticut native to commit to UConn who is projected to play quarterback since current Green Bay Packers quarterback Tim Boyle was one of the highest ranking pledges in UConn’s 2013 recruiting class. It should be noted that Jay Rose, part of UConn’s Class of 2016 commits, threw for 86 touchdowns in his two seasons as Southington’s starting quarterback but he was recruited to play tight end.

CONN COLLEGE BOASTS TWO ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICANS
