UConn postpones three series due to virus concerns Madison duo reach State Junior Amateur quarterfin­als

The UConn women’s basketball team will postpone three series scheduled for the upcoming 2020-21, season the university announced Tuesday.

UConn is scheduled to play 20 league games per season now that is has rejoined the Big East Conference, up from 16 conference games in the American.

UConn will delay series against Cal, Oklahoma and Texas that were scheduled for this upcoming season.

Excluding a neutral-site event for the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase on Nov. 28-29, the Huskies are currently at eight nonconfere­nce games. The program is looking for one additional nonconfere­nce game.

The entire 2020-21 schedule will be released at a later date. Season tickets for the 15-game home schedule (which also includes an exhibition against Fort Hays State) are on sale at UConnTicke­ts.com.

Away: Baylor, Notre Dame, Tennessee (Jan. 21), Virginia

Reigning Connecticu­t Junior PGA champion Matt Doyle continued his fine play by advancing to the quarterfin­als of the 79th Connecticu­t Junior Amateur Tuesday at Watertown Golf Club.

Doyle is one of two Madison CC golfers in Wednesday’a quarterfin­als. He won a pair of close matches, including one that went 21 holes. He will face Ben Boyd (Wampanoag CC).

Aidan Stuart, also from Madison CC, eliminated two other New Haven area golfers, Jake Ivan-Pal (Great River GC) and Kevin Morris (Hamden) en route to the quarterfin­als. He will face

Jack Bosworth (Hop Meadow CC) in the quarterfin­als.

Alex Gu from Darien also won a pair of matches and will face Cody Brew (Tumble Brook CC) while Shelton’s

Kyle St. Pierre takes on Jackson Roman (Shuttle Meadow) in the other quarterfin­al.

The semifinals will be held Wednesday afternoon and the final on Thursday morning.
