Tropical depression brought heavy wind, rain to region

- By Ben Lambert

The rest of the weekend is expected to be at least partly sunny and clear as a tropical depression, which brought wind and rain to the region overnight Friday, weakens and leaves the area, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service canceled all watches and warnings connected to the tropical depression formerly known as Fay at 2 a.m. Saturday.

The storm prompted road closures and alerts Friday evening, with Branford police reporting two water rescues.

Gusts of wind reached 49 mph in Greenwich, NWS officials said.

Sunday is expected to be sunny, with a high of 89, officials said.
