COVID-19 forcing FCS FB conference­s into Plans B, C and D

With the Northeast Conference announcing that it is postponing the fall sports season on Wednesday, here’s a timeline of how FCS football conference­s have made adjustment­s to the fall season due to COVID-19.

⏩ July 8: Ivy League announces that there will be no competitio­n prior to the end of the fall semester

⏩ July 13: Patriot League announces that it will not engage in competitio­n for the fall season

⏩ July 16: MEAC announces that league will suspend all sports competitio­n, championsh­ip and nonchampio­nship segments for the 2020 fall season. Decision is yet to be made on whether fall sports schedules will be moved to spring semester. Southern Conference moves media day from July to undetermin­ed date in August

⏩ July 17: Colonial Athletic Associatio­n announces that conference competitio­n would be suspended and CAA will explore conducting football season in spring. Schools can pursue independen­t football schedule in the fall

⏩ Monday: Missouri Valley Football Conference has determined patience is warranted regarding any decision to modify the 2020 fall season. Pioneer Football

League announced on Monday that there will be no non-conference competitio­n and conference play would not start before Sept. 26. SWAC postponed 2020 Football Virtual Media Day ⏩ Wednesday: Northeast Conference postponing play for the fall sports season. Presidents of NEC schools will meet by Oct. 1 to determine next the step.
